The rights of women were very similar in the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Empire. Both cultures had very strict rules and view points as of the role of women As said in the book, Daily Life in the Byzantine Empire by Marcus Rautman, a man from the time period named Kekaumenos wrote in the 11th century that the women in the Byzantine empire needed to be kept safe and isolated from the rest of the world. In the Islamic Empire the Qur'an, a written religious text of Islam written in 610 B.C, states that women should be obedient of their husbands because that is the way the Allah said it was to be. The rights of women were similar because of their daily lives and the way their husbands expected them to live.
